GOVERNANCE

Madison Expeditionary Learning Academy is a local non-profit organization co-founded by four Madison area community members committed to providing quality educational experiences for students and teachers that complement the current educational landscape.

As a non-profit organization, MELA has two phases of governance.  The first phase, which we are currently in, is the start-up phase.   There is a volunteer board of local community members.  The board is intentionally small to ensure a focused vision carefully guides the design of both the Academy and the Center for Engagement.   Experts and committed community members contribute to this important work in numerous ways.

The second phase of governance will begin when the Academy opens.  At that time, board members with targeted areas of expertise will be recruited to serve as volunteer trustees to guide the development and sustainability of both the Academy and the Center for Engagement.  Steering committees will transition to standing committees of the board, which will be chaired by board members and include volunteers from the community.

We are updating our list of board members and their bios.  Check back soon!
